For more than 20 years in a row, the readers of The Dawson News and Advertiser and The Dawson County News have voted Joey Homans Dawson County’s Favorite Attorney.  Joey is a civil attorney with an emphasis on local government and local government agencies and has built a reputation of trust and reliability throughout North Georgia.

Joey grew up in North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Washington, before graduating Cum Laude from Washington State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He went on to The University of Puget Sound School of Law (now Seattle University) and finished his Juris Doctorate at The University of Georgia School of Law.   

In 1986, Joey returned to Georgia, where he he has strong family ties, and put down roots in Gainesville and Dawsonville. 

Over his 30-year law career, Joey has been General Counsel for Dawson County, Etowah Water and Sewer Authority, the City of Demorest, the City of Lula, and the Hall and Gilmer County Boards of Tax Assessors. Current Clients include: the City of Lula, White County Water and Sewer Authority, Gainesville Redevelopment Authority, Forsyth County/City of Cumming Landbank, Dawson County Sheriff, Clerk of Court, and Tax Commissioner. 

Joey is a rabid sports fan and consummate family man. He and wife Kristie share four adult children, Whitney, Katie, Michael, and Shelby, and two grandchildren, Caroline and Henry.
